This time the theme is "Future career path". It is important to have a well-thought-out plan to become a fully-fledged researcher in aging and health.
What does your dream career look like?
– My dream career would be to be able to carry on doing research on loneliness prevention by promoting older adults social participation witin their everyday activities, using digital solutions. I feel that I have only scratched the surface of this major and complex health challenge and would thus like to explore and address it further, beyond my PhD, says one of the doctoral students, Linnéa Körlof, Luleå University of Technology.
– My dream career is to continue within academia, focusing on research, by maintaining high-quality work and building on what I have learned through SWEAH about the importance of collaboration and networking, says Klara Le, PhD student at Örebro University.
What will you be doing in five years?
– It’s hard to predict, but hopefully I will have completed my PhD and, if I could wish, secured a grant allowing me to devote most of my time to research on ageing and older adults, Le continues.
– By then I hope that I have made some form of clinical impact with my research, leading to positive influences on older adults health, says Linnéa Körlof.
Also on the schedule is a guided tour of Falu mine and a workshop in voice projection at the music producer Musik i Dalarna.
SWEAH arranges PhD Student Days at partner universities around the country every semester, the next time will be in spring 2026.
