Societal and life-course perspectives on inequalities in aging, 3 hp
Upcoming course fall 2025, Karolinska Institutet
Are you a PhD student engaged in the research field of aging and health and
interested in gaining a better understanding of inequalities in aging and older age?
Welcome to apply for the postgraduate course “Societal and life-course perspectives
on inequalities in aging”!
The course is offered during the autumn of 2025 and is hosted by the Aging
Research Center at Karolinska Institutet in collaboration with the Swedish National
Graduate School for Competitive Science on Ageing and Health (SWEAH, Lund
University). The course is open for all registered doctoral candidates, but
precedence is given to students affiliated to SWEAH.
The aim of the course is for students to gain an increased understanding of
inequalities in aging and older age from a structural societal perspective and from an
individual life-course perspective. Furthermore, the course aims for the students to
understand and apply both individual and structural perspectives on inequalities in
aging to their own doctoral projects, based on an interdisciplinary approach.
The course will be held in English and implemented as a distance-learning course
using an online learning platform (lectures and seminar) and two on-site seminars.
