Guidelines for submission of abstracts  

We invite SWEAH PhD students, postdoctoral fellows, supervisors and partner representatives to submit abstracts.

Participants are encouraged to indicate their preferred presentation format in the abstract submission process.

The time limits described below and preferred presentation format may be subject to change, based on the number of abstracts admitted. 

Oral presentation  
These presentations consist of a 10-minute presentation followed by a 5-minute question and answer period for each speaker.  

Popular Science presentation
These presentations will take place in a separate room where also external guests like local politicians, municipality representatives, senior citizens’ associations and others interested in research on ageing and health will be present.
10 minutes, Swedish or English, 

Symposium  
A symposium is 45 minutes maximum, and there need to be at least three presentations. Each symposium should appoint a chair. It is optional to have a discussion. How the time is divided between presenters, chair, discussant, and questions from the audience is optional. This is an opportunity to illuminate your research from different perspectives. 

Thesis at a glance  
These presentations consist of a 10-minute oral thesis presentation followed by a 5-minute question and answer period for each speaker.  

Poster session
Presentation of posters, consisting of an abstract of a research article or ongoing research.

Guidelines 

 

The abstracts for the conference should be written according to the following guidelines:  

Research in the field of ageing and health reflecting on the interdisciplinary perspectives on sustainable ageing.

Title of abstract should be typed in CAPITAL LETTERS.

The preferred form of presentation must be indicated as described above.

If the abstract is part of a symposium, please include the title of the symposium at the top of the abstract.

The name of all authors should be listed and the main presenter should be underlined; The name of the main presenter’s institution, postal address, e-mail address, and phone number to be included. All correspondence will be sent to the main presenter.

The subheadings of abstract should be: Introduction, Objectives, Material and methods, Results, Conclusions, implications (Implications in the context of conference theme, that is, sustainability and interdisciplinary approach.

The abstract submission may contain a maximum of 300 words.

Tables, diagrams and footnotes should be avoided if possible.

Abstract should include at least three keywords. Note that the keywords should be other than the title of the presentation.  

The official language of the conference is English. Abstracts must be submitted in English, except for abstracts in the popular science session.

Font: Arial, Times New Roman or equivalent, size 12 point with single line spacing.

Deadline for abstracts: May 10, 2023.  

Registration to the conference opened: May 10, 2023.

Notification of acceptance of abstracts: June 20, 2023.  

Deadline to submit revised abstracts: August 14, 2023.

Publication of preliminary conference program: September 14, 2023.  

Registration to the conference closed: October 9, 2023.

All submissions are, independent of format, subjected to a peer-review process by a review committee. No abstract will be rejected, but everyone should get feedback according to guidelines which reviewers will follow. If there are more abstracts than the conference can accommodate, then SWEAH PhD student presentations will have priority. 

The review committee will also recommend a presentation form to the conference committee. Authors will be notified by e-mail, no later than June 20, 2023, of the outcome of their submission.
Revised abstracts must be handed in before August 14.
A digital abstract book will be published on SWEAH’s website.
