He has been researching ageing and health for many years at Aarhus University in Denmark. From March 1, he holds the professorship of universities and higher education at the Danish School of Education (DPU), Aarhus University, where he focuses on the societal role and responsibility of universities, as well as the implications for higher education and graduate education.
– In SWEAH, I hope to contribute to putting an even stronger focus on clarifying SWEAH's societal and professional anchoring and partnership. Both constitute the research field for many of SWEAH's doctoral students and for several also the professional context in which they are trained. It is an important part of the research and professional reality and career that SWEAH's doctoral students subsequently enter, for example in leading roles in research, education and competence development, says Professor Søren Smedegaard Bengtsen.
SWEAH's pedagogical group reviews and provides input on all the graduate school's courses and activities, based on its own expertise and student evaluations.
– Sören brings pedagogical expertise to postgraduate education, has extensive experience in educational research and will collaborate with and provide guidance to SWEAH alumnus, William son Galanza, who is responsible for conducting a pedagogical research study on SWEAH. We are really looking forward to working with Sören in the pedagogical group where he will contribute to continuing to strengthen SWEAH for the future, says SWEAH's study coordinator Steven Schmidt.
The pedagogical group also includes Schmidt, assistant study coordinator Arianna Poli, Linköping University, Lisbeth Kristiansen, partner representative at the postgraduate level, Mid Sweden University, and doctoral student representatives Samantha Svärdh, Lund University and Jerry Norlin, Dalarna University.
