Planning for this autumn's interdisciplinary ageing and health conference is in full swing. SWEAH is once again organizing a two-day conference, this time on the theme "Exchange of Insights: Connecting Research on Ageing and Health with Societal Needs".

SWEAH alumnus Wenqian Xu at Lund University is convenor of the conference committee. He is now busy applying for funding, inviting keynote speakers and planning the rest of the program together with a handful of other SWEAH alumni, PhD students and senior researchers.

What’s special about this conference?

There will be an exchange of knowledge not only between researchers, but also for non-academic stakeholders. The second conference day is open to the public. Therefore, one of the keynote speeches will be delivered in Swedish, and an English summary will be provided for the international audience, says Wenqian Xu.

The mission of the national graduate school SWEAH is to sharpen the skills of around 50 PhD students affiliated with SWEAH across 13 partner universities. At the conference, they have the opportunity to create societal impact from their research projects.

In addition to PhD students, the conference is aimed at SWEAH alumni and supervisors and those engaged in research on ageing and health at SWEAH’s partner universities, not limited to researchers affiliated with SWEAH. In view of the chosen theme, local stakeholders such as politicians, municipal representatives, older adults’ associations and others interested in research on ageing and health can also sign up.

Now SWEAH is looking for new partners from 2027, so also representatives from possible new partners are welcome to the conference, says Wenqian Xu.

The conference committee is also inviting people working within the Swedish Local Authorities and Regions, SKR, the Swedish Public Health Agency, the National Board of Health and Welfare, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health.

The conference will be held on November 10-11 at Best Western Plus Park City, in Solna, in collaboration with SWEAH partner university - Karolinska Institutet. Researchers will be invited to submit abstracts from April 6 until May 8. Registration opens and the preliminary program will be announced on June 19.
